Chabelita (a cute hand puppet) is still shivering from a scary encounter with a mouse. Her auntie (Emerita) tells her own version of The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse to calm her. She continues with the story of The Ant and the Butterfly, followed by a tale of African antelopes. This performance with audience participation brings forward the importance of sharing and respect for what was here before us. Following her performance of The Mouse, the Ant and the Antelopes, Emerita offers a workshop for the children and the youngat- heart in the audience including the use of drama techniques, movement, music and improvisation.
Storyteller Emerita Emerencia is a multilingual artist who has been a school projects choreographer with the National Ballet of Canada, a children’s narrator with Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, and a librettist with the Canadian Opera Company.
